The Timucua Jazz Orchestra was born quite recently, in 2007.
The 2009 DVD project is the first recording of this big, big band.

21 top notch musicians, including Chuck Archard, Chris Rottmayer,
Chad Shoopman, Tom Parmeter, Keith Oshiro, Jeff Rupert, Alain Bradette,
Keith Wilson, Mike Iapichino, Tony Hill, Claire Courchene, James Hosmer,
Marissa Zambito, Benoit Glazer, Hope Forconi, Will Nestler, Rose Rottmayer,
Bobby Koelble, Tom Dietz, Eddie Marshall, and John Robinson.

So, to sum it up, we are talking 5 trumpets, 5 trombones, 5 saxes,
a 4 piece rhythm section, and two french horns!

The project: to capture all these great musicians playing in a relaxed, intimate venue,
both in HD video, and high resolution audio, in April and May of 2009.

Here are the differents steps one needs to take to get it done:

1-get the music together. Check. Two standards, and the rest is all newer music,
   especially arranged for the occasion.

2-Get the band together. Check. Our inaugural concert at Rollins College in
February 2009 was a big hit. Thank Chuck Archard and Dr. Sinclair for that. Check.

3-Buy all the video recording equipment needed for four camera shoot scheme, full HD.
Check. Buy and learn the video editing software needed to create the project. Check.
   Pay for that stuff, ongoing...

4-Start the pre-sales of the CD/DVD, to help pay for the project, and put about 30 people to work.

5-Prepare the camera cue sheets, and recruit the camera operators. Check.

6-Schedule the sessions. Big project right there... Check.

Left to be done:

7-Get more pre-sales, as checks are coming in, but slowly, and we need your support!

8-Train and prepare the camera operators using the Rollins concert video footage as a reference.

9-Shoot the sessions. Pay the musicians, the camera operators, sound engineers.

10-Archive and catalog all the audio and video data after each session
(we are talking hundreds of GB of data per session).

11-Play and shoot the "Jazz under the Starz" event that TJO will do on
May 4th, at 7:30PM at Boone High School,
to use in "B" roll for the making of and as backdrop for the interviews on the DVD.

12-Mix the audio, and render both in CD quality files, and 24/96, high resolution files (for use on te DVD).

13-Get Bob Katz to master all that audio. Pay master Katz for his magic touch and unparalleled ears (worth every penny).

14-Edit the four camera shoots into a single, cohesive video stream, with (hopefully) the right rhythm, movement, and effects.
Enlist the help of professional film-maker genius Michael Finn to make it look as good as it can.

15-Render all that video once, twice, three times (one always finds room for improvements upon visioning one's work).

16-Close down pre-sales.

17-Design and execute the graphics for the CD/DVD package, including the list of our
beloved supporters who pre-purchased, and made it al possible.

18-Get to the duplication factory, and check the proof master (again, onc, twice, three times...)

19-Send for duplication.

20-Get the package back from duplication, and hand deliver or mail out to all the great people who pre-purchased.

21-Hope to God that enough people will buy the DVD to come close to breaking even :)
That should run about $15 000.00, or 500 good hearted, beautiful folks.
